Congratulations to RB/LB Mike Pellegrino, QB Kevin Jadick, and WR/S Tommy McInerney for making the Suffolk County All-Star Team. Tryouts were held this past week for any seniors who were voted All-Division this year and these three outstanding Thunderbirds made it. All three players were selected All-County by the coaches of Division I and were members of a Long Island Championship team and three straight Big Four Championship teams.
The All-Star game will be played this Wednesday night, November 24, at 7 pm at Stony Brook University and will have the Division I and IV All-Stars from Suffolk County competing against the Division II and III All-Stars from Suffolk County.
Kevin Jadick enjoyed three great seasons as a Thunderbird. His first two seasons he spent as a backup and displayed outstanding skills. As a member of the 2008 Long Island Championship team, he was determined to be a great leader and a terrific player when he got his chance to start. He did not disappoint. Jadick had a great year making some of the best throws in Suffolk County this past season and providing some exciting plays. He was one of the best leaders on a team of overachievers that went 6-3 and were Big Four Champions for the third straight year. #2 will be greatly missed for his arm, his great ability to be in charge of an offense, his leadership, and the dedication and committment he put towards the Connetquot Thunderbirds football program.
Tommy McInerney enjoyed three terrific seasons as a Thunderbird. He played on the 2008 Long Island Championship team, was a starter on last years team, and was a two-way starter this past season. He showed many signs of greatness his first two seasons and really came into his own as a senior. He was an outstanding leader, led the team in interceptions, was third in tackles, was the leading receiver, and caught a few touchdowns from Jadick this past season. He is a nominee for the Defensive Back Award given to the best defensive back in Suffolk County. #7 will be greatly missed for his great hands, his blocking, his intelligence on defense, his big-play ability, his leadership, and for the dedication and committment he put towards the Connetquot Thunderbirds football program.
Mike Pellegrino enjoyed three phenomenal seasons as a Thunderbird. He was a starting corner, kick and punt returner on the 2008 Long Island Championship team and was a huge part to the teams great success that season. He was a two-way starter on the 2009 Big Four Championship team leading the team in rushing yards, return yards, total yards, and touchdowns. In 2009 he was a finalist for the Hansen Award given to the best player in Suffolk County. This past season he was the team leader in rushing yards, total yards, touchdowns, sacks, tackle for losses, and second on the team in tackles. He is a candidate for the Hansen Award, the Collotta Award (Best Linebacker), and the Running Back Award. An unbelievable football player who combined a tremendous work ethic, outstanding leadership, strength, speed, and power to the Thunderbirds for the past three seasons. #34 will be greatly missed for his outstanding ability to make everyone on his team better, his great ability to run with the football, score touchdowns, tackle the opposing player, his leadership, and for the dedication and committment he put towards the Connetquot Thunderbirds football program.
Thank you to all of the seniors for this past season. It was an outstanding season filled with many phenomenal memories. These three players will be outstanding representatives for the 2010 Connetquot Thunderbirds: A group of Warriors that overachieved each and every time they stepped on the field.
