Nate Alessandro and Brandon Carnevale had outstanding games from their defensive end positions in the game vs. Pat-Med Friday night. They were an important part of the excellent defensive performance that held the Raiders offense to a total of 109 yards of offense.
Alessandro finished the game with ten tackles, seven solo, two quarterback sacks, and three tackles for losses. He was a huge force for the Thunderbirds and provided much needed toughness. On the season "Nasty" Nate is fourth on the team with 20 tackles, leads the team with 3.5 quarterback sacks, and has one fumble recovery. He has, also, done a terrific job as the team's punter and is providing good depth at the tackle/tight end position.
Carnevale was a strong force, as well. He had ten tackles, five solo, one tackle for loss, and numerous times was taking on two to three blockers helping the linebackers and defensive backs make the tackle. Carnevale, also, provided great blocking at his offensive guard position. All season he has a tireless motor playing almost every play offensively and defensively, plus being on most special teams. He is third on the team with 21 tackles and has done an excellent job offensively.
Unfortunately the Thunderbirds came up short losing a heartbreaker in the last seconds, 7-6. Nate and Carnevale were two players who gave it all throughout the game and will be two players who will be looked upon to get the team back to its winning ways. They take on a very good Lindenhurst Bulldogs team this Saturday at 1:30. It is Homecoming so get there early as a large crowd is expected.
