On Saturday, the Thunderbirds loss a tough game to Northport 34-28. The team, hampered by injuries to key players, Joe Zuco, Mike Compitello, and Brian McIlvain put up a tremendous effort but fell at the end to a very good Northport team. Captain Mike Pellegrino stepped it up big time for the Thunderbirds having one of the greatest games in the history of Connetquot Football.

He led the team in almost every category statistically, offensively and defensively, tallying 424 all-purpose yards. As a running back he had 19 carries for 146 yards, a 7.7 average, and had 2 rushing touchdowns. He, also, had 5 receptions for 53 yards, a 10.6 average. As a kick returner, he returned 4 kicks for 150 yards, a 37.5 average, and a touchdown, an electrifying 92-yard return in the 2nd quarter. He, also, returned 3 punts for 75 yards, a 25.0 average. On offense, he was a machine, making some spectacular plays.

He was just as good on defense, leading the team in tackles with 12, 8 of which were solo. He, also, had an interception, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss. His efforts were looked upon in awe by all of the players, coaches, and fans at the game from the Connetquot side, as well as the Northport side.

A phenomenal game by Mike Pellegrino, one of the best we have ever witnessed.
