Ryan Lanigan is off to an outstanding start. As a two-way starter last year, he came into this season as one of the key players returning for the Thunderbirds. He has had an outstanding camp, displaying great leadership, improved play at the linebacker position, and has been an important component to the offense. In both scrimmages he was one of the best players on the field. This season, Lanigan will be asked to be the leader of the defense and do a lot of great things offensively, not to mention be a long-snapper, too. Coming off a great junior season, this senior is poised to have a phenomenal senior year.
Ryan Andersen, a two-year starter at quarterback, is returning for his third year as the leader of the Thunderbirds offense. He has already started 20 games at QB, much more than anyone else in Suffolk County, and has made tremendous strides over the last couple of months at his position. Coming off a great year last year, the QB of a Long Island Championship team, he has become more polished, more athletic, and improved his skills at the QB position. Defensively he will also see some time at safety. He, too, had a fantastic camp and threw the ball extremely well in the two scrimmages thus far.
The Thunderbirds kick off the 2009 season this Saturday, September 12th at Northport at 2 PM. For the Thunderbirds to continue their incredible success from a year ago, Ryan Lanigan and Ryan Andersen are going to have to play the way they have been playing all camp.... Outstanding!
