ATTENTION ALL CONNETQUOT FOOTBALL PLAYERS!!!PLAYER UPDATE:

We are two weeks into our summer training. We have four weeks left. It is a good time to assess how we are doing so far. The goals of our summer training are as follows:

1.Improve overall athletic performance by increasing speed, power, quickness, & agility through drills and sprint work.

2. Improve strength, power, & flexibility by using a specific weight training plan.

3. Improve endurance and fitness levels using all plyometric drills, sprint drills, and weight training.

4. By improving strength and overall fitness we will also decrease the probability of injury.

5. Increase football skill level & knowledge through drill work and group practice.

BUILD TEAM UNITY, TEAMS THAT SACRIFICE & SWEAT TOGETHER, LEARN HOW TO WIN TOGETHER.

Our summer training is a versatile and intense program. It is designed to hit all of these aspects, however the over all goal is to be ready to go 100% on August 20th. The mistake many players make is that they think the 2-a-day practices are there to get you ready. This is wrong, you should come in ready to compete and perform. We will hit the ground running (no sprinting) with our eyes on a championship.

This is what I see & hear so far from our players and these are my responses to each:

Players That Are Committed: There is a large group of players that are down right “busting their asses” so far this summer. I am proud of these young men and it will be by their leadership that we will return to the championship.

Players That Are Half-Committed: Doing just enough to get by. Whether they have conflicts with work, other sports or they are just lazy half the time. To these players, if these conflicts are unavoidable do your best to be your best. Try to get down at least three days a week. If you have been lazy half the time it is not to late to turn it up. Remember, when you are not working to get better, someone else is. You are cheating yourself and teammates.

Players That Are Doing it on Their Own: Those players that have been going to the gym on their own, away from their teammates. This is better than doing nothing at all but if you look at the goals above for our summer training, you are only getting part of the job done. Get to practices, get to running workouts, get with your teammates. If you want to lift weights on your own after that then fine. You should be at, at least three workouts a week. You are missing out on skill work, conditioning, agilities, coaching, and most of all your teammates.

Players That Are Doing nothing: If you have been doing nothing, good luck. You better get working or you will never survive 2-a-days. Good news, you have 4 weeks left, bad news you are way behind.

WHERE DO YOU FIT IN?

FINAL POINTS:

*If you have been on vacation, welcome back, now get to work.

*If you “HAVE” to work or have other serious obligations, we vary the times of practices and workouts enough you should be able to get down to something.

*If you are missing workouts for whatever reason, I should know why. Contact me.
