The T-Birds offense rolled up 470 yards of total offense, 425 of that was on the ground running the ball. Joe Zuco led the rushing attack with 160 yards rushing on 18 carries. His touchdown run of 52 yards came on the first play from scrimmage and sparked the offense right from the start. Joe Pellegrino only had 3 carries due to an injury, but those 3 carries went for 111 yards and one touchdown. On his 73 yard touchdown run he looked like a "runaway train". A huge credit to the excellent offense has to go to the phenomenal performance of the offensive line. Mike Compitello, John Smith, Kevin McHale, Ryan Lanigan, DJ Pamlanye, Brandon Carnevale, Alex Lorenzo, and Andrew Grogan have played an important role in the great success of the offense all season long. Jon Sternbach, Matt Nason, Jeremy Leggiero, and Dylan Clifford provided some great blocking all game long. Other offensive stars were Leggiero, 48 yards rushing and a touchdown; Sternbach, 44 yard touchdown catch and 7 yard touchdown run; and Mike Pellegrino, who had an unbelievable 58 yard touchdown run.
The T-Birds defense forced three turnovers and had 8 quarterback sacks. Alex Lorenzo had an outstanding game having 11 tackles, 5 quarterback sacks, and 6 tackles for a loss. He was ferocious on the pass rush. Cody Elsis has had an excellent season. This game was no different. Elsis had 10 tackles and 2 terrific interceptions. Jeremy Leggiero had a great game with 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and a quarterback sack. John Smith had a fantastic game with 11 tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback sack, and broke up 2 passes.
Jon Sternbach continues to shine all over the field. One of the best players on Long Island, Sternbach had a great all-around game. Adding to his touchdown catch and his touchdown run, Sternbach had a terrific interception, and a 28 yard kick return.
It was an awesome playoff win for the T-Birds and the entire Connetquot Football Program.
