Alex Lorenzo, Jon Sternbach, and Justin Bertone are named Players of the Week in a 20-6 victory over CI.

The Thunderbirds won their second straight game, 20-6, over Central Islip on Saturday. Defensively, the team put forth another outstanding performance holding CI to 98 total yards, registering 5 QB sacks, and intercepting two passes. The defense allowed 0 points for the second straight week, as the only score was on a kickoff return.

Alex Lorenzo put together another outstanding game. He had 7 total tackles, 4 solo, and had 2 big quarterback sacks. The 2 sacks came at important times and helped in keeping CI scoreless. Lorenzo is having an excellent year at his defensive end position and is the second leading tackler on the team. Other players considered were Kurt Johnson, 9 tackles, Jeremy Leggiero, 12 tackles, Mike Pellegrino, interception and 4 tackles, Jon Sternbach, interception and 7 tackles, Brandon Carnevale, 2 QB sacks, and John Smith, 6 tackles.

The offense made a few mistakes committing 4 turnovers, but also, had 4 great scoring drives. Jon Sternbach was a big part of that making 5 key receptions for 87 yards. Sternbach, the team's leading receiver, is having an outstanding year. Other players considered were Joe Zuco, 83 yards rushing on 12 carries, Jeremy Leggiero, 28 yards rushing and a touchdown reception, and Ryan Andersen who threw two touchdown passes and completed 9 of 17 passes for 115 yards.

Justin Bertone had another outstanding game as a kicker making 2 field goals in 2 attempts and 2 extra points in 2 attempts. He, also, had another touchback. Bertone is an excellent weapon for the T-Birds and continues to shine on the football field.
