In a tough loss, Jeremy Leggiero and Joe Pellegrino shine.

In a hard-fought, tough loss to Longwood on Friday night, the T-Birds had a lot of players who had great games. Two players who really stood out were Joe Pellegrino and Jeremy Leggiero. Both of these individuals had excellent games and really helped in the Thunderbirds awesome effort in a 20-19 loss.

Running back, Joe Pellegrino was the Offensive Player of the Game as he had 168 yards rushing on 8 attempts, two resulting in long touchdown runs of 65 and 55 yards. The "Rocket Man" was unstoppable on a few of his runs. Other players considered for this award were Jonathan Sternbach who had three receptions for 52 yards and a few members of the O-Line, Brian McIlvain, Kevin McHale, and D.J. Pamlayne who had standout games.

Linebacker Jeremy Leggiero was the Defensive Player of the Game as he led the team with 16 tackles, 10 solo, and 2 for a loss. Leggiero was all over the field and had three or four exceptional hits. Other players considered for this award were Mike Pellegrino who had a solid game at corner with 7 tackles, 6 solo, 1 for a loss, Sternbach, 12 tackles, 8 solo, McIlvain, 9 tackles, 6 solo, 2 for a loss, John Smith, 10 tackles, 5 solo, 1 for a loss, and Alex Lorenzo, 14 tackles, 8 solo.

Leggiero was also the Special Teams Player of the Game for his exceptional punts. He got off a few solid punts that helped limit Longwood from getting good field position. Other players considered were Justin Bertone, 2 touchbacks, 1 extra point, Sternbach, 60 return yards, and Joe Pellegrino, 2 special teams tackles.
