Steve Cluen, Doug Smiroldo, & Alex Lorenzo named Players of the Week vs. Lindenhurst

Posted Sunday, October 07, 2007 by Michael Konsevitch
Steve Cluen had a phenomenal game for the second consecutive week. Offensively, he provided strong blocking from the tight end position and defensively he was all over the place. Steve had 8 tackles, 5 solo, a quarterback sack, 2 tackles for losses, and broke up 3 passes. His three pass break-ups came from rushing off the edge and getting his hands up at the right time.

Doug Smiroldo had an outstanding game playing with an injured ankle. Offensively, Doug broke off a 70-yard touchdown run for the T-Birds lone score. Defensively he made 9 tackles, 5 solo, 1 tackle for a loss. Doug made a key stop on a 3rd and 1 to force Lindenhurst to a FG.

Alex Lorenzo had another great game from the Nose Guard position. Lorenzo, once again, anchored the D-Line making 6 tackles, 2 solo, and 1 tackle for a loss. He, also, made an outstanding interception in the 3rd quarter by reading a screen pass beautifully.

Other players who were considered were Jeremy Leggiero, John Smith, and James Tripodi.
