James Tripodi and Alex Lorenzo are this week's players of the week!

James Tripodi, a two-year starter, is returning this season on a mission. For the past two seasons he has worked tremendously hard and has gotten better as a running back and as a linebacker. Last year, Tripodi was named Defensive Player of the Year for the T-Birds and was selected All-Division First Team by the Suffolk County Coaches Association, just barely missing All-County. He was a force on both sides of the ball and this off-season he has been committed to making himself better.

Since wrestling ended, James has been training real hard and has been very successful in getting himself in top shape. Already a strong and tough player, he is getting even stronger. Tripodi will be one of the key players in taking the T-Birds to the playoffs and if he plays up to expectations he could be looking at receiving some off-season awards.

Alex Lorenzo has been very committed to the weight room and has gotten a great deal stronger this off-season. As a JV player last season Lorenzo was one of their better players and really was a great offensive and defensive lineman. Lorenzo plays with a lot of intensity and has brought some of that intensity into the weight room.

Alex is going to be a real help to the success of the T-Birds next season and should be battling for a starting position on the O-Line or D-Line. He has the potential to be a force for us next season.

Congratulation to James and Alex. Keep up the excellent work and keep getting better!
