Doug Smiroldo is this Week's Player of the Week for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to getting better.

Doug has been a terrific player for the Thunderbirds over the past two seasons. As a sophomore he started every game as an OLB and played extremely well. He led the team with four fumble recoveries, had three forced fumbles, and 55 tackles, 36 solo (5 for a loss). He was selected All-Division Second Team.

As a junior, Doug was voted a team captain and started every game switching from OLB to ILB. He was second on the team with 68 tackles, 39 solo (6 for a loss). He also added 1.5 QB sacks, forced a fumble, and recovered one. He also was a key component to the offense. He rushed the ball for 178 yards and two touchdowns. He was selected All-Division First Team.

Doug has consistently been training hard since the season ended and is in the weight room every day getting stronger, bigger, and better. He has provided strong leadership, has a phenomenal work ethic, and is extremely dedicated to making his team and himself better. More importantly, he is a very unselfish player who always puts the team first. Great job, Doug. Keep it up and the rewards will be great!
