Seniors Set To Play In Their Last Home Game

Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 by Michael Konsevitch
This Saturday is "Senior Day" at Connetquot High School as the T-Birds host the Colonials of William Floyd at 2 PM. The T-Birds are looking for a huge victory over the undefeated Colonials to help keep their playoff hopes alive. The T-Birds are going to need a tremendous amount of effort from their Seniors if they want to keep their season alive.

It has been a tradition in Connetquot to have "Senior Day" at the last home game of the season. This tradition includes honoring the player who is playing in his last regular season game and their parents who have witnessed six years of football fly by. It is a special day and the players with their parents will be honored before kickoff and have their picture taken together. The parents will also wear their son's white away jersey during the game.

This year's graduating class of 2007 are Tyler Shagi, Ryan Schmid, Carmen Melillo, Vinny Pellizzi, Kevin Escobar, Billy Booras, Matt Shulman, Joe Mattera, Angelo DeLiso, Chris Buchanan, Bobby McInerney, Mike Weiss, Joe Warshaw, Over Moreira, David Dale, James Scala, Chris Cosgrove, Jimmy McHale, Gary Feldman, Eduardo Polletto, and Dan Tenney. All of these players contributed to the success of this year's team, and some have been playing for the last six years in the Connetquot Football Program at Oakdale-Bohemia and Ronkonkoma Middle School. 18 of these 21 players have played the last three years together on Connetquot's JV and Varsity together. Each one of these players will be missed tremendously and are all wished the very best in their future away from Connetquot.

Seniors, cherish this last game and play each play like it is your last. Embrace the day and have no regrets. It is almost certain that you will remember your last game more than any other, go out victorious and remember it forever with a great deal of pride. Beat Floyd and there will be next week! Once a T-Bird, Always a T-Bird! T-Bird Nation!
